What is Balcony Bar Seating at the Sundance Kabuki in San Francisco? All shows in the Balcony of Auditorium #1 are always Over 21. The Balcony is located on the 3rd floor. These shows are called out when ticketing on the website, the kiosks and the box office. Our ad in the SF Chronicle designates the shows as well. Our Screening Room calendar operates most of the year with adventuresome programming with films culled from Film Festivals around the world. In most cases, expect a reply to your comment or question within 48 hours. back to top Are Gift Cards available? Sundance Cinemas Gift Cards are sold at both locations. You may purchase for any amount from $5.00 up to a $100 maximum per card. They are available at the box office only, and are redeemable at the location of purchase only. Gift Cards are accepted at most locations in the building for movie tickets and at most food and beverage locations. Movie tickets may be purchased online, at our kiosks or at the box office at the location of purchase with the gift cards. The box office will have location specific information on redemption. These handsome cards are reuseable and reloadable and made from recycled plastic. back to top The 8 Screens at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas There are 8 screens at the Sundance Kabuki. Auditorium #1 is a historic auditorium, built in the late 1960's originally as a restaurant with live entertainment. There is a huge screen and a stage with lighting, sound and webcast capabilities. The Balcony is always Over 21, with tablettes designed to hold food and drink served from the Balcony Bar. The Orchestra of #1 is always All Ages. Auditoriums 5 and 6 on the 3rd floor are designated Over 21 for certain shows. These shows are identified in ads and on our website. Auditoriums 7 and 8 are Screening Rooms; intimate and lovely settings with tablettes as well. back to top Can I buy tickets for Sundance Cinemas on Fandango or MovieFone or any other website? No, we sell tickets online only from our website. Prices are the same whether you purchase seats in advance online, at the box office or at our kiosks at the theatre. back to top What are 'Over 21' Shows? At the Sundance Kabuki in San Francisco, certain shows in auditoriums #3, 4, 5 & 6 are designated as Over 21. The Balcony Bar is open, and the entire 3rd Floor becomes Over 21 during that time period, generally for the evening shows. All shows in the Balcony of Auditorium #1 are always Over 21. A valid ID is required, and those shows are called out in the SF Chronicle directory, the show times page on our website, when ticketing on the website, the kiosks and at the box office. back to top What is the Rooftop Bar in Madison? The Rooftop Bar in Madison is a lovely Bar and Bistro open now on the roof in Madison. A destination of its own, there are great views of the City, and fantastic food and drink to be enjoyed before or after a film. Each time you purchase a ticket, the box office personnel will mark your membership card. When the card is filled up, you will recieve a free movie ticket. Recognized organizations must submit requests on letterhead either to madrentals@sundancecinemas.net, dropped off at the box office or fax'd to 608-316-6908 a minimum of 48 hours before the tickets are needed. The Group rate is for 25 persons or more and tickets are $5.00 per ticket (plus any applicable amenity fee) and may only be used for regularly scheduled shows Monday through Thrusday matinees only. For most shows, there is an amenities fee which helps us to provide an excellent movie-going experience. We present the finest art, independent and world cinema, our building was constructed utilizing a large percentage of post-consumer grade materials, a large number of recycled and recyclable products, we buy meats, produce and other goods from local vendors, we do not show annoying television commercials ( a huge source of revenue for most theatre circuits), free wi-fi throughout the building, we support and exhibit local artists on our walls and in our retail shop - plus we have real butter on our popcorn! back to top What happens if my ticket does not print at home? It's not a problem at all. First check to see if the confirmation email has been routed to your bulk mail. If not, as long as the charge went through, bring the same credit card you used to the box office and we can look up the purchase and print you a new ticket. back to top A Taste Of Sundance in Madison - What's It All About? We're thrilled to bring A Taste of Sundance to the Sundance Cinemas in Madison open now, lasting until Labor Day. Mark Shoup, the Executive Chef for Robert Redford's Zoom, Foundry Grill and Tree Room restaurants has designed a special menu gleaned from all the restaurants. Sundance Cinemas feature stadium seated auditoriums with extra comfortable reserved seats, and digital sound and superior film and pre-show presentation featuring shorts and features from the Sundance Channel. We only play the finest film choices available. The atmosphere and finishes throughout the theatre have the look and feel of both the Sundance and community aesthetic. We feature local artists on our gallery wall space. We have bars and bistros, lounges with wi-fi access and Sundance retail all designed to create a 'third place' atmosphere. back to top Please explain the reserved seating choices at Sundance Cinemas. Every seat for every show is sold on a reserved seating basis. Tickets are available for purchase either on the web with print at home capability, at the ticketing kiosks or at the box office. We feel that offering this service relieves some of the stress of planning a trip to the movies, plus you get to choose your very favorite seat every time!
You have a choice as to when and if you need to pay for your reserved seat. There is no amenities fee Monday through Thursday for the first show time. After that, as the day progresses towards the evening 'prime shows', the amenities fee is anywhere from $1.00 up to $3.00. We're presenting a first class experience, with a state of the art theatre, no annoying television commercials, free internet wi-fi and real butter on our popcorn. back to top Is there a Sundance store? The Sundance Cinemas in Madison has the Caffe 608 with food designed to eat in your seat or in one of our lounges, the Lobby Bar, with a full bar, and the seasonal Rooftop Bar, a great destination for casual drinking and dining with great views of the surrounding areas. You may bring all beverages into the auditoriums. Sundance Cinemas has full catering capabilities for special events, company meetings or theatre rentals. The Sundance Kabuki has the Balcony Bar, the Bar Bistro and the Sundance Kitchen, right next door. The Balcony of Auditorium #1 is always Over 21 seating, and you may bring cocktail into designated shows in Auditoriums 3, 4, 5 & 6.

At both locations, we serve San Francisco-based Peet's Coffees and Teas with espresso drinks and in the afternoon in Madison, we have fresh sandwiches, cocktails, wraps and more. In San Francisco, wraps and specialty desserts are served in the snack bar, plus there are three food and beverage loations serving bistro fare and cocktails. A very adamant NO. We believe that your movie going experience should be completely different from staying home and watching television. Being barraged by commercial messages is just not what we are about.
